Do not confuse cheap usb sticks with low cost usb sticks.

Typically, cheap usb sticks use inferior memory chips and controllers, and are known to also pass off memory doubled counterfeits (example:  by compressing the space of 2GB, with software, to make it look like  4GB usb drive).
